judo classes 189, 190 and 191
after being out of town for work for a week…
sunday: 35 minutes elliptical, level 2
monday: lunchtime yoga
tuesday: judo - shove each other out of the circle, use the edge of the circle to practice o uchi (keep your toe on the circle!) o uchi to osoto and o uchi to tai o combos. randori.
thursday: judo - visitors from mines. two cool naiwaza tricks - both starting with them turtled. 1. reach your hand across and into their far side lapel, your near hand goes over their back and grabs far pants leg. don’t reach in deep like a normal choke. then put your hips up on their shoulder like it’s a bench you’re trying to share with their neck. then start walking in a circle toward the head. it turns into a lovely choke. 2. they’re facing you and grab one of your knees. sprawl onto them and use your legs to turn them over and lock the legs in. complete the hold.
friday: 35 minutes elliptical, level 3
saturday: judo (and time to buy another 75 passes! wow!) the usual crazy mix of saturday people, but I did learn a few tricks - when going from o uchi to o soto, step much further out to help pull them off balance. variation on tani o tochi, where you kind of do a chair pose in the middle, sit them on your knee, then lock in the leg and take them down. (but was warned that if people know it’s coming, the counter will be brutal)
